Day 6 Subject: Looking good, [firstname]! Hi [firstname]! Today I want to give you some pointers on getting a website established. Obviously, I don't know what type of online business model you've decided on, so I have to be fairly generic here. In the early days of the Internet, most websites were written in a language called HTML (hypertext markup language). Today, though, it's better to go with a content management system written in PHP. Of the many available, the most versatile is WordPress. WordPress started out as a rather clunky blogging platform, but it has evolved over the years. Now in addition to using it as a blog there are all sorts of plug-ins you can use to adapt WordPress to suit your business model. For example, there's plug-in called WooCommerce that can turn your site into a fully fledged online store with a shopping cart, payment gateways – the works. You can also turn WordPress into a membership site, a forum, a salesletter site and more. You can integrate your Twitter feeds, and Facebook postings. Like I said it's highly versatile. You'll want your website to stand out from all the rest, and the best way to do that is to customize a WordPress website template (known as a “theme”). You can do this via the WordPress dashboard, or you can get one designed especially for you. Of course, the whole point of having an online business is to make money, and to do that you'll need a way for your customers to pay you. The most popular method is via PayPal. Most people have heard of PayPal from eBay, but it can do more than that. You can use PayPal to send invoices if you provide a service, or add it as a payment option if you have a shopping cart. Stripe is another great payment gateway if you take payments directly from your site. You can sign up in minutes and their fees are reasonable. Warmly, [Your Name] PS.
