The final step in creating your own cryptocurrency is launching an ICO.  ICO stands for Initial Coin Offering.  

Wikipedia defines an ICO as:

“… a type of funding using cryptocurrencies. Mostly the process is done by crowdfunding but private ICO's are becoming more common. In an ICO, a quantity of cryptocurrency is sold in the form of "tokens" ("coins") to speculators or investors, in exchange for legal tender or other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum. The tokens sold are promoted as future functional units of currency if or when the ICO's funding goal is met and the project launches. In some cases like Ethereum the tokens are required to use the system for its purposes.

“An ICO can be a source of capital for startup companies. ICOs can allow startups to avoid regulatory compliance and intermediaries such as venture capitalists, banks and stock exchanges.”

Think of it as being a bit like an IPO (Initial Public Offering) when a corporation floats on the stock market.

This can be the most crucial aspect of getting your cryptocurrency to the market, so it (literally) pays to do your homework. The best thing to do is to look on cryptocurrency blogs and forum sites to see how other ICO's have fared. Learn from others' mistakes.

You'll also need to resolve any legal issues.  It's best to find a specialist lawyer who has experience with cryptocurrencies and IPOs to help you with this.  Chances are your friendly neighborhood storefront attorney isn't going to cut it here. 

Finally you need to make sure your platform is safe – think like a hacker, look for loopholes etc.. If people can hack into your platform at your IPO or before your cryptocurrency launches and your blockchain is up and running, it's literally like robbing a bank.
